Language and Culture Institute LINGUA LITUANICA from 9th of January, 2023, invites you to attend Intensive Lithuanian Language and Culture Courses. Online groups for A1, A2, B1 levels are planned. 

1. LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE  (A1 LEVEL) COURSE

Course dates: from 9th till 27th of January.

Duration: 80 acad. hours.

Course structure:

30 acad. hours – direct lectures with the lecturer. Lectures will be held in a small group remotely Mondays to Fridays at 8.00-9.30 (Lithuanian time). 

44 acad. hours – Lithuanian language course in online learning platform Moodle. After the course students will be able to study in Moodle additionally for two weeks. 

6 acad. hours – virtual cultural programme.


The Basic Lithuanian Language Course (A1) will help you to take your first steps with Lithuanian and achieve proficiency level A1 (Breakthrough). We will use the learning material Susipažinkime prepared by prof. dr. Irena Kruopienė.  Together we will learn how to:

  • communicate in ordinary situations, ask and answer simple questions, tell briefly about ourselves and other people.
  • recognize basic phrases about the family, environment, daily life, spare time, etc.;
  • read and understand simple texts;
  • write short texts (a letter, message or a greeting).

Here we will get familiar with key grammar points essential for understanding and using basic phrases and writing or reading simple texts. While learning new words we will not only broaden our vocabulary but we will also begin to understand people around us gradually. We will study all these things by doing various exercises of writing, reading, speaking, and listening.  This will take till 80 academic hours of tuition, some additional home study and of course your desire to speak one of the oldest Indo-European languages. 

 

2. LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE (A2 LEVEL) COURSE

Course dates: Course dates: from 9th till 27th of January.

Duration: 80 acad. hours.

Course structure:

30 acad. hours – direct lectures with the lecturer. Lectures will be held in a small group remotely Mondays to Fridays at 17.10-18.40, (Lithuanian time). 

44 acad. hours – Lithuanian language course in online learning platform Moodle. After the course students will be able to study in Moodle additionally for two weeks. 

6 acad. hours – virtual cultural programme.

Basic Lithuanian Language Course (A2) will help you achieve proficiency level A2 (Waystage) and to prepare for first category exam. We will use learning material Pasikalbėkime prepared by prof. dr. Irena Kruopienė. Together we will learn how to:

  • communicate in ordinary situations, ask and answer questions, tell briefly about ourselves, family and other people, to talk about work, business, hobby, whether, everyday life, to ask information.
  • recognize aurally basic phrases about the family, environment, daily life, spare time, etc.;
  • read and understand simple or adapted texts, instructions, recipes, TV and radio programs;
  • write short personal letters, greetings, invitations, requests, announcements, filling forms, write down the information, and so on.
  • vocabulary and phrases

 

3. LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE (B1 LEVEL) COURSE

Course dates: Course dates: from 9th till 27th of January.

Duration: 80 acad. hours.

Course structure:

30 acad. hours – direct lectures with the lecturer. Lectures will be held in a small group remotely Mondays to Fridays at 18.30-20.00 (Lithuanian time). 

44 acad. hours – Lithuanian language course in online learning platform Moodle. After the course students will be able to study in Moodle additionally for two weeks. 

6 acad. hours – virtual cultural programme.

Lithuanian language course for intermediate will help you achieve proficiency level B1. We will use the learning material Perženk slenkstį prepared by prof. dr. Irena Kruopienė. Together we will learn how to:

  •  communicate in a variety of familiar and unusual everyday situations, discuss, ask and answer questions about our personal lives, work, education and leisure topics, describe the situation, explain the reason, express an opinion, offer, compare, agree or disagree, express feelings, etc.; 
  • recognize conversations, chats, comments, the essence of short stories when it comes to a clear routine, work, education, leisure topics, to understand the basic topics of radio or television programs which are expressed clearly;
  •  read everyday texts about work, education and leisure and understand the essence or important details of the events of human life, relationships, and descriptions of feelings, also find, understand and evaluate the necessary information; 
  • write simple clear structured (introduction, body, conclusion) texts on familiar topics, personal and official letters, substantiate their views, give examples, describe events, reviews, characters, and etc.;
  • use of various grammatical forms (nouns, pronouns, adjectives singular case, verb tenses and inclination). We will study how to identify and select the participants, and the half participle forms, appropriate use of text-tying tools and etc. By learning new words we will expand the vocabulary in various topics.

During the cultural program we will talk about and explore:

  • The nature of Lithuania
  • Old crafts
  • Lithuanian traditions
  • Lithuanian ethnographic regions
  • Virtual tours around Lithuania
