Dear “Lingua Lituanica” students and friends,
There is a unique museum in Kaunas that is definitely worth visiting. We invite you to join us on Saturday, May 23.
We will travel from Vilnius to Kaunas by train (convenient and fun). From the station, we will walk to the Art Deco Museum, where at 10:00 a hands-on guided tour awaits us.
We will not only see, but also experience how the brave and hardworking residents of the First Republic of Lithuania lived, reflect on the impact of the occupiers on our society, and understand how important it is today to protect our freedom.
After the tour, we will have lunch and at 16:00 enjoy an interactive tour of the Amsterdam School Museum, located in the only building of this style in Lithuania. It was designed by a young 25-year-old architect, and its interior is decorated with valuable artworks by Lithuanian artists from 1920–1940. The rooms feature period dishes, books, furniture made in Lithuania, and even household appliances.
The cost for each tour is €25 per person. It may seem high, but museums founded from personal savings are maintained without any government funding.
Please register by email at info@lingualit.lt by March 15.
